The Priesthood – Pastors for the Flock

The hierarchical gift of the priesthood comes to the Church through the sacrament of Orders. The priest is anointed and empowered by the Holy Spirit to pastor his flock and offer sacrifice on their behalf in the Holy Mass. The priest makes Christ visible as the head of the Church.
Our priest possesses real spiritual authority as both a representative of the Church and of Christ Himself. The ultimate purpose of this authority is to lead us out of a life of sin into a life of virtue fed by the sacraments that will bear fruit in eternal life.
Pray for our priests, that they might be successful in this important task. Pray for our parish, that we can partake of the goodness that God has planned through the priests He has given us.
