The Seven Sacraments of the New Covenant
The Seven Sacraments are at the heart of God’s activity in the Church. Jesus established each sacrament as a special way to give us His grace. Being able to participate in the sacramental life of the Church is one of the primary benefits of a life of discipleship.
It’s easy to think of the sacraments as an obligation, a duty, and a responsibility. What’s harder is to recognize that they are a gift, a consolation, and a foretaste of heaven. Allowing God’s sacramental graces to enter into our lives will help us to experience true change of heart. Saint Paul said, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2) The graces present and available to us in the sacraments accomplish this transformation in us.
